Fun in the Sun

Yesterday we got together with some friends at The Monestary. The weather was PERFECT!!! IT was great to talk to some family and friends from Utah and let them know that while they were in a snow storm we were out in jeans a tank top enjoying the great weather. We played some vollyball and our new favorite game thanks to Cole and Audrey BAGS! I SO SUCK AT BAGS but Hey, I still try. Cole keeps encouraging me not to give up, and I don't think I will any time soon.

I forgot my camera battery so phone camera pictures aren't a great quality.

Happy Birthday DAD!

I thought today would be a good day to share what a great brother and sister-in-law I have. For Christmas they gave us all the best gift ever, a CD with my dad's voice on it, oh and this great picture of him. My dad was on KSL morning show 2 weeks before he passed away. I was 5 when he died and had NO IDEA what his voice sounded like.

On Christmas morning we got our CD's, everyone was coming over to my mom's for breakfast and so as soon as I got mine I stuck it in the CD player. Brent my brother came in and didn't know what was going on, I watched him and couldn't believe that he recognized our dad's voice. He listened and then finally asked "What are we listening to?"

The story of how the CD came around was that Bryan and Danielle were given a tape of the radio show about a year after my dad died from my aunt Jill. They stuck it in their safe since it was truly priceless, Danielle said that she always wanted to get it put on CD when the technology came out but was scared that it may get damaged and it would be lost forever. Whitney finally talked them into it and also threatened the guy at the store who did the transfer from tape to CD with his life if anything were to happen to the tape.

I guess I figured today was a good day to share this story. It is hard to believe that my dad has been gone 22 years this June. I love hearing stories about him, and wish that I could have known him the way others did. I have never heard one bad thing about my dad, and I find that to be a huge accomplishment on his part.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD, I LOVE YOU!

Our new piece of "FINE ART"

I figured since everyone is going to see it eventually I might as well get it out there!
Dusty's thoughts on tattoos: LOVES THEM! Personal artistic expression for those who can't say how they feel. A second window into a persons soul past and present.
Shalice's thoughts(RULES)on tattoos: Everyone is allowed to have one. Should never get one just because, needs to have a reason and meaning.
This is Dusty's version, Dusty never has a version so pay attention. This is from his mouth on what went down!
Friday afternoon around 3, DUSTIN B text me 'HEAD TO SCOTTSDALE, I AM GETTIN INKED.' I got on the horn to actually see if he was serious. 'How could he defy me' I thought as I dialed his cell with a subtle rage. When he answered I asked "Are U SERIOUS????" he replied "YES, gotta go I'm in the chair." Rage, sadness, and a sense of no control pushed tears from my eyes. My co-workers politely asked "Are you okay?" As tears came to the surface with the heat of an angry volcano I replied "I'm gonna hurt my husband!"
When he got home I saw what was done: IT HAS MEANING, IT HAS A REASON and IT MEANS A LOT TO MY HUSBAND, well nothing left to say. I still love him!

FYI Mom and Fred it does not wash off... I ONLY WISH!

Dr Rob's Visit

Rob was a student who graduated last year, he now practices in California. He is engaged to Robyn who will be graduating this year. I started hanging around Robyn when Rob was a senior, most senior dental students aren't really that fun. For some reason they are stressed about board exams, and making sure they get all of their requirements so that they can graduate and then be able to practice.

We never really got to know Rob before he moved away, and Robyn has become a regular in our life. We are planning on attending their wedding in July, so when he came to town for a few days we had to go and make sure he was fun enough to marry our Robyn. We both agree that he is a keeper. Their relationship reminds us so much of ours. I think Rob said it best "IF IT WEREN'T FOR ME SHE WOULD BE IN A STRAIGHT JACKET" Dusty looked at me and agreed. Good thing our guys love us or we might be in a lot of trouble!

The Valley’s 50 Best Dishes

Back in January Dusty picked up a PHOENIX MAGAZINE it had listed on it..."The Valley’s 50 Best Dishes" We love food and DUSTY LOVES GREAT FOOD! I am good with Micky D's here and there, Dusty won't even touch it. He would rather starve. When he brought home the magazine we both decided it would be a year of hard work but we would be willing to put in the time and appetite to knock them all out, we would go in with an open mind and do it!

Well that was January, here we are in mid March and we have finally knocked one off of our list!
PIZZERIA BIANCO
For our little anniversary last Friday we went and tried this place, it is in down town Phoenix and we never really get down there. We had to take a friend to the airport and decided we were doing it! The place is darling, very intimate. If you do go, head there early! The place is open from 5-10 daily we arrived there just after five and couldn't figure out what this long line was for, once I got in it I quickly realized that this was the line to put your name on the list, just to add your name! When we got to the front of this line we were informed that it would be another 3 to 3 1/2 hours before we could be seated.

I was ready to bailout on this, but Dusty was excited and wanted to wait. I really don't think I would have waited but it was our anniversary and I was felling nice. We had a little adventure on the streets of Phoenix and ended up back at Pizzeria Bianco seated and fed by 9:30ish.
LOVED THIS PLACE.

We spent a few hours at Majerle's, seems any time I get down town I end up here!

Yeah....they had these bugs on the sidewalk, we thought they were cute and got some pictures with them
Just giving him a SMOOCH! MWAH!
AHH Finally keep your eye on the prize...I HAD TO!
It was worth it, we had a good time
Our salad was to die for...I think my new favorite thing is MOZZARELLA CHEESE...YUMMY
Our pizza, something we would have never EVER tried, but it was the best!

I just hope the other 49 stops along "The Valley’s 50 Best Dishes" does not consist of a 3 hour wait.
