Sand Dunes Slide Shows

I went camping last week with my family. Dusty had to work and was unable to go I had to drive the furthest so I think I should get some kind of award for that. A few people thought that I was crazy for making the long drive by myself but I just said that I love my family that much! I HAD A BLAST! and after the first day, if I had to turn around and drive another 9 hours to come home it would have been SO WORTH IT! They might not let me go back again because I get camera happy also...as you can tell I had to make 2 slide shows to fit everything!

Tortas El Guero...MMMM YUMMY

"The Magizine's Picture of The Cubano"

Well a few posts back I had started talking about the "Vally's 50 Best dishes" Well I am proud to say that we have knocked another one off of this list..only 48 to go folks! I am even happier to report that now we have some partners that are joining in on this journey Cole and Audrey! YAY!

Last night we knocked out The Valley best sandwich "The Cubano" I wasn't man enough to get it, but Dusty did. I had a bite and it was great. I went with the Carne Asada torta and it was pretty much to die for...I am thinking about it still right now as I type. This little hole in the wall shop was really good and pretty cheap. We had a great time and some great food. I am way excited that Cole and Audrey are in for the the next 48, and I will be blogging the whole way.

Little hole in the wall joint

"My Picture of the Cubano" Dusty had just eaten half of the torta by then, and from my picture phone... I keep forgetting my camera anywhere I go lately.

Audry sitting at the only table pulled out, they were trying to close up we were the only people in the place!

Dusty's knee's

Monday night Dusty played softball again, I wasn't able to make the game but he came home with some bloody knee's. Not that I thought it was funny...but kinda. A few weeks ago I had posted about him playing softball and that everything would be good as long as we didn't end up at Urgent Care. Well another game down, and no Urgent Care visit success again. I just wanted to share his poor little knee's. I was telling some people at work about his knee's and we are still yet to put two and two together on how they ended up that way but I guess that is just Dusty for ya!

Fun in the Sun

Yesterday we got together with some friends at The Monestary. The weather was PERFECT!!! IT was great to talk to some family and friends from Utah and let them know that while they were in a snow storm we were out in jeans a tank top enjoying the great weather. We played some vollyball and our new favorite game thanks to Cole and Audrey BAGS! I SO SUCK AT BAGS but Hey, I still try. Cole keeps encouraging me not to give up, and I don't think I will any time soon.

I forgot my camera battery so phone camera pictures aren't a great quality.

Happy Birthday DAD!

I thought today would be a good day to share what a great brother and sister-in-law I have. For Christmas they gave us all the best gift ever, a CD with my dad's voice on it, oh and this great picture of him. My dad was on KSL morning show 2 weeks before he passed away. I was 5 when he died and had NO IDEA what his voice sounded like.

On Christmas morning we got our CD's, everyone was coming over to my mom's for breakfast and so as soon as I got mine I stuck it in the CD player. Brent my brother came in and didn't know what was going on, I watched him and couldn't believe that he recognized our dad's voice. He listened and then finally asked "What are we listening to?"

The story of how the CD came around was that Bryan and Danielle were given a tape of the radio show about a year after my dad died from my aunt Jill. They stuck it in their safe since it was truly priceless, Danielle said that she always wanted to get it put on CD when the technology came out but was scared that it may get damaged and it would be lost forever. Whitney finally talked them into it and also threatened the guy at the store who did the transfer from tape to CD with his life if anything were to happen to the tape.

I guess I figured today was a good day to share this story. It is hard to believe that my dad has been gone 22 years this June. I love hearing stories about him, and wish that I could have known him the way others did. I have never heard one bad thing about my dad, and I find that to be a huge accomplishment on his part.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD, I LOVE YOU!

Our new piece of "FINE ART"

I figured since everyone is going to see it eventually I might as well get it out there!
Dusty's thoughts on tattoos: LOVES THEM! Personal artistic expression for those who can't say how they feel. A second window into a persons soul past and present.
Shalice's thoughts(RULES)on tattoos: Everyone is allowed to have one. Should never get one just because, needs to have a reason and meaning.
This is Dusty's version, Dusty never has a version so pay attention. This is from his mouth on what went down!
Friday afternoon around 3, DUSTIN B text me 'HEAD TO SCOTTSDALE, I AM GETTIN INKED.' I got on the horn to actually see if he was serious. 'How could he defy me' I thought as I dialed his cell with a subtle rage. When he answered I asked "Are U SERIOUS????" he replied "YES, gotta go I'm in the chair." Rage, sadness, and a sense of no control pushed tears from my eyes. My co-workers politely asked "Are you okay?" As tears came to the surface with the heat of an angry volcano I replied "I'm gonna hurt my husband!"
When he got home I saw what was done: IT HAS MEANING, IT HAS A REASON and IT MEANS A LOT TO MY HUSBAND, well nothing left to say. I still love him!

FYI Mom and Fred it does not wash off... I ONLY WISH!
